Abban has owned Paws and Claws Pet Resort alongside her husband, Robert, since its opening in 2003. In 2021, after working as a teacher and dyslexia specialist in Fredericksburg ISD for 20 years, Abban assumed the role of Manager at Paws and Claws, where you’ll find her working hard to ensure you and your pet have a great experience.
Abban received her B.S. in animal science from Texas A&M University in 1984 and has always had an affinity for animals. Her beloved Beagle Polo and cat, June Bug, garner her attention at home, but she truly enjoys getting to know each of your pets and their personalities during their time at Paws and Claws.
Abban’s favorite animal: Dogs, because a dog’s love is loyal and unconditional.

Dr. Lastovica and his wife, Abban, have owned and operated Paws and Claws Pet Resort since its founding. Fredericksburg residents since 1989, the Lastovicas take great pride in offering premier animal services to the community through Paws and Claws and Friendship Veterinary Center, Inc., where Dr. Lastovica practices mixed animal veterinary medicine. Dr. Lastovica is always on-call and quick to respond to any unforeseen illnesses or pet emergencies that, while unlikely, may occur during your pet’s stay.
The Lastovicas have three grown children and four grandchildren – Logan and Mary Avery Lastovica, Piper and Townes; Mollie and Canaan Dreibrodt, Charlie and Bennett; and Mattie Lastovica.
